Finally. It’s over.

I started this scarf back in August, but it shouldn’t have taken this long. I realized mid-project that I chose the wrong colour combo. I used a variegated orange colour and first combined it with a very dark brown that was more black. Too Halloween for my tastes.

So then I spent weeks waiting for this chocolate brown yarn to be mailed to me straight from the manufacturer (local yarn shops were out of stock).

It’s Casbah by Handmaiden. It’s a merino/cashmere blend. It’s soft, it’s yummy, and machine washable.

Even though this was a bitch to finish towards the end as I had more and more stitches on the needle, I’m already thinking of making another.

I’d love to know who the idiot is who pays that much for a hat that can be made in less than a day with one skein.

I’ve seen cashmere yarn at my local yarn shops. I’m currently making a cashmere blend scarf. The balls are pricey, but not that pricey!

Knitting Project: Circle Scarf V.1

My inspiration for this was the American Apparel Sheer Circle Scarf. Not their original circle scarf, which is too bulky with all that fabric. But I didn’t want to pay fifty bucks for a flimsy scarf that might not hold up over time. Not to mention, inappropriate for winter. So, I knitted one for under thirty dollars.

Mine isn’t as long, unfortunately. I got sick of making the damn thing in such a fine weight yarn. When I make v.2, I’ll go with worsted weight. Definitely not bulkier than that.

No point in providing a detail shot since it’s all black and you can see the ridges (hopefully!) in the first pic.
